Connection to Harringay Warehouse District

After we realized that our site is located between the Harringay Warehouse District and the wider residential community and It’s a prime location with lots of visibility. we tend to make the pavilion possess a similar spatical organizing properties with warehouse. So the first step is to tint the construction with a big voverto marking a giving physical space. Then deviding the under space into zones of “semi-closed entity space” and “open body space” with another 2 covers to contain varies activities in order to casting the life style of both regions.

Proposal Outline

When we realized that our site is located between the Harringay Warehouse District and the wider residential community and It’s a prime location with lots of visibility. we tend to make the pavilion possess a similar spatical organizing properties with warehouse. So the first step is to tint the construction with a big voverto marking a giving physical space. Then deviding the under space into zones of “semi-closed entity space” and “open body space” with another 2 covers to contain varies activities in order to casting the life style of both regions.
After we decided the connection between The Pavilion with Harringay Warehouse District, we begin with a detailed site plan:
1. what will be the entrance like?
2. How could people go into the palivion?
3. what’s the relationship between the palivion and the site?
4. How people feel about the site?
Based on these four core issues, we decided to shape the site into 4 zones: entrance zone, palivion A, palivion B and the open body zone. These four regions are both independent and interconnected. Thereby, it’s quite convenient to accommodate different activities, exhibitions and gatherings.
Then we focused on the materials. Wood and steel come to be the most suitable materials for the project. It could not only provide sufficient structure force, but also bring a comfort feeling to the space, besides the use of the caisson ceiling also adds some order to the site.
In brief, all these choices include the the space form, the construction form, the detailed site planning and materials is a way to creating a livable community environment which not only possess a similar spatical organizing properties with Harringay Warehouse District but also able to cast the living atmosphere of surrounding residential area.
