Connection to Harringay Warehouse District

Main resource and characteristic of Harringay warehouse district are people which living there. Of course, we can say these sentence almost about every place in the world, where people are living. And this is true, because people are different, and the difference between them grows depends on place. So the area impacts on people and then people impacts on area. That’s why the main idea of my proposal is to make project identic, because of locals power, their energy, experience, life views, e.t.c.

Proposal Outline

You know, it’s really hard to design project for people, whom you don’t know, on place where you haven’t been before, but the project should be for these people, project should tell about this place and it’s power. I tried to find something special on the territory, in the surrounding, in buildings, in spaces, but didn’t find anything.
FIRSTLY, but secondly I had seen an interesting thing…
What we have in Harringay warehouse district?
Warehouses, warehouses and warehouses… Just structures, with unknown filling.
But when we open this filling, we see colours, we see life, we see creativity, local jokes, local names, local community…
Everything inside…
And this phenomena is so clean, pure and honest, there is nothing to say more. People just living together, creating something together, eating together and a lot of also together.
So, I think, pavilion also should be similar. Pavilion shold be about people, if so, it will tell and scream about power, possibilities and opportunities, which live here.
The next question is how to make materialistic object from this observations. The answer is simple: we have to use warehouses principles and include people in design process, because they live in warehouses and when they started to living there, there was only warehouse value, structure, system. People fill it with themselves and what we have right now…

So, my proposal is to design structure, where people can do many things as collective and as a singles and write some skeleton scenarios what people can do.

As a result there is 2-storeys pavilion. 1 floor mostly for communal activities, that’s because at the center is an area. Markets, warming-ups, dances, celebrations, presentations, workshops, and many many we can do here. Second floor is about chilling, quite dialogs, sleeping on hammocks and dreaming.

To include local people (and also everybody who wants to be involved) pavilion during building process will have some workshops:
-thoughts wall workshop
-expressive wall workshop
-green wall workshop
-community wall workshop
-planting workshop
-lighting workshop

Every workshop has his own scenario and borders for better functioning.

Also it’s neccessary to say about 2 points:
1. Pavilion will have chairs, small tables and big tables for doing almost everything. (for ex: crafting a new sculpture)
2. Under the stairs will be small warehouse for storaging simple tools, some materials, cleaning stuff, furniture e.t.c. This “Toolbox” will have a door with lock for safety.
